SKU

A stock keeping unit, or SKU, is fundamental when determining software licensing. The SKU represents what has been bought, which is a configuration that the publisher is offering. The SKU indicates the base quantity that licenses are sold in, for instance a five-pack. The SKU also defines the spe­cific set of usage rights that it provides. A SKU is linked to a specific version of the software title. In summary, the SKU provides additional information regarding the type of license, pricing, usage rights and quantity of licenses purchased. It may be created while you create a software license, unless you have a repeat purchase, in which case you would use existing SKUs.

If a SKU is missing any of the following items, it is added to the All SKUs Missing Information view:

• Publisher

• Software Title

• Version

• License Quantity

• License Unit

• Includes License

• Includes Maintenance & Support
